Usually a yellow to brownish-yellow transparent gemstone. The most typical
colour is sometimes referred to as "golden" or "sherry" topaz. Other
fairly common colours are pink or "imperial topaz", blue and colourless.
Said to be one of the stones used in the breastplates of ancient high
priests, it is also the ninth foundation stone in wall of the new Jerusalem.
Considered precious by African bushmen, it is used in Said to "activate" the lungs, preventing colds and TB, it is also used to improve eyesight. It assists in the treatment of mumps, quinsy, whoopingcough, measles, inflammations and skin problems. It is also used in the treatment of menstrual disorders. Yellow topaz is used in treating liver disorders, colds and flu and varicose veins as well as poor blood circulation. Helpful in improving the sense of taste, it is said to be of benefit in times of stress and nervousness and that if you put a topaz under your pillow it will soothe the nerves and energise the body during sleep. Yellow and blue topaz assists with psychic development as well as calming the body. Blue topaz clams the mind and aids leadership and artistic growth (see also: Colour Significance). Aids in warming cold limbs. Light to clear Topaz is renowned for aiding communication with nature spirits (or Divas) as well as animals and plants. It is often used to develop or enhance generosity, optimism, creativity, good humour, inner wisdom and inspirational intuition, truthfulness, and general happiness. Can also be used to attract love and abundance (see also: How they Work). Astrologically connected with Sagittarius (22 November - 21 December) it symbolises fidelity - It is the birthstone (ancient and modern) for November. It is also associated with the 16th anniversary.
