century) - A fine-grained quartz which derives its beautiful apple-green
colour from the presence of nickel in the stone (see also: Colour
Significance). The Romans called it the "Stone of Venus". Used in
Middle Ages and valued as a cure for restlessness, for making the wearer
quick-witted and for imparting Used in the treatment of disorders of the heart and to control bleeding, it is also thought to be helpful in childbirth and the treatment of high blood pressure. It reduces fever and relieves burns and sunstroke. Brings relief to neck and shoulder strain as well as those with shingles and damage to nerve cells as well as relieving the pain of rheumatism. It is also used in the treatment of the thyroid and is believed to be useful for treating menstrual problems as well as those of the fallopian tubes, ovaries, prostrate and testicles. Said to be a very "inward-looking" stone, helping with calming, balancing and inner mental healing while enhancing light-heartedness and joy. It increases one's dexterity and relieves frailty and infirmity. Can moderate superiority or inferiority complexes and is thought to encourage fidelity in business and personal affairs. Said to encourage inner growth, patience and tolerance, it also eases sorrow and anger. It promotes compassion, humility, kindness, optimism, peace and will power.
